Dennis joined CMCA in 1977 as co-founder of the retail design group. His design expertise encompasses all phases of Retail, Hospitality and Senior Living projects including planning, merchandising, visual merchandising, brand imaging, detailing, materials and finishes and lighting.
Prior to joining CMCA, Dennis was the founding Director of Design and a Divisional Vice President for The May Design & Construction Company, a division of May Department Stores Company in St. Louis, MO. After graduation from Woodbury University in Los Angeles, he was employed at Morganelli-Heumann and Associates as a retail designer, until he was recruited by May Department Stores.
While he was the Project Executive for CMCA’s retail design group, Dennis was responsible for completing over 27 million square feet of designed space for many of the leading retailers in the U.S., Mexico, Japan and Australia. A large majority of the retail projects were complex full size department stores ranging from 150,000 to 750,000 SF with a mixture of mass merchandise and specialty store clients.
Currently, Dennis serves as a Senior Project Designer for many of the CMCA’s hospitality and luxury resort Senior Living projects. Some of these projects include: University Village, an 80 acre senior living complex in Thousand Oaks, CA; The Lodge at Sea Island; The Retreat Golf Club, The Ocean Houses at The Cloister on Sea Island, GA; the Pro Shop at the Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe, CA; the Westin Galleria Hotel and Condominiums in Minneapolis; remodels of the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar spa, various restaurants and the business center in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; the Juan Dolio Resort in the Dominican Republic, the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego and the Hard Rock Hotel & Resort in Panama.
Dennis is a professional member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Retail Design Institute (RDI) formerly the Institute of Store Planners (ISP).
