Dollar General to Open 625 New Stores in 2012

Dollar General Corp. said Tuesday it plans to open 625 new stores this year in its 38-state operating region, which includes Missouri and Illinois, plus California and Massachusetts, the Memphis Business Journal reports. The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based discount retailer, which has $12 billion in sales, said it expects to create more than 6,000 new jobs in 2012. Dollar General has about two dozen stores in the St. Louis area.
