Chapter Profile

Founded as the Institute of Store Planners in New York in 1961, the Retail Design Institute is a professional association of retail design specialists with over 1000 members in 15 chapters worldwide including our Sydney/Melbourne chapter, which was formed in 1992.

The Retail Design Institute is the only international professional body totally dedicated to developing and supporting retail design professionals engaged in the design and planning of retail selling environments.

The Retail Design Institute stands on the following principles:

The Institute ensures the credibility of its membership by vetting the degree of experience and education of members, with the highest order being Professional level status.

President's Message

retail design awards 2009

The Retail Design Institute recently held their inaugural Design awards evening at Circa at the Prince Hotel in St Kilda.

The event was a sold out success, it was a great evening for the celebration of innovative design and designers in this country.

Our guest speaker Amanda Henderson gave a informative passionate and entertaining talk on design and her collaboration in the newly refurbed Circa at the Prince.
The Retail Design Institute would like to congratulate the winners.

The evening was a spectacular success the venue the food the wine the hard crafted glass awards designed by local glass artist Mark Douglass all created a perfect platform for a memorable and enjoyable evening.
We look forward to seeing the talent and creative design for the 2010 - 2011 Retail Design Awards.
