Born in Richmond, VA, raised in Charlotte and attended UNC-Charlotte and Clemson University. After a stint with Belk's Store Services, set up Planning & Design Associates in 1971. This store planning firm has designed and completed projects in 40 states and Ontario, Canada for Department and Specialalty Shops and Restaurants. Carlyle has been a member of RDI since March 1968.
