Stop & Shop: A Case Study on Applying the LEED Certification Process to Multiple Store LocationsIn 2008, the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company and its subsidiary, Giant Foods, achieved the United States' first volume LEED certification of retail buildings. Presenters will discuss: past store prototypes designed in collaboration with the Rocky Mountain Institute; how LEED fits into the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Program; how the project team was able to simultaneously certify 51 stores under LEED EB; and the importance of training programs for operations and maintenance success.
This innovative approach to LEED certification, and its potential application for numerous market sectors, will revolutionize how LEED certifications are done.
