Steve Stock is a senior design and construction executive with over thirty years of broad based accomplishments in planning, design, and construction management. He is highly skilled in eliciting and understanding client project needs and structuring buildable programs to solve key business challenges. Steve is particularly adept in collaborating with multi-functional areas by providing strategic direction and using well developed leadership and organizational skills.
In the early part of Steve’s executive career he developed retail design standards and new concept/prototype stores for Hallmarks Cards, Inc., helping to launch three new store types aimed at emerging market segments. Recruited by Carson, Pirie, Scott & Co. in Chicago, he then managed a rapid succession of new department store openings and major remodeling projects as part of a company-wide re-invention process. Steve subsequently broadened his experience base by directing the remodeling and total refixturing of over 70 big-box stores in less than nine months for Venture Stores. During his eight years at Filene’s, along with managing design and construction for capital projects throughout seven states in New England; Steve was actively involved in community affairs and represented the company on the Mayor’s Committee for the establishment of a Business Improvement District in downtown Boston.
As Vice-President of Planning & Design for Foley’s he completed design and construction administration of over 4.5 million square feet and managed capital for over $720 million dollars in project work since 2000. He has developed actionable recommendations for redeployment of space using space analysis diagnostic tools to maximize space productivity and trained senior store executives to use these tools to maximize 4th quarter sales. Steve was challenged to implement extensive Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility compliance programs, and developed detailed plans to reduce congestion and barriers without sacrificing selling capacity. Both of these programs were subsequently used as “best practice” models for other May Co. divisions.
Most recently Steve acted as a key member of the HOK Executive Architect’s Senior Management team for development of a major multi-billion dollar new Science & Technology University for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Throughout his tenure with these major industry leading corporations, Steve has led planning and design functions for a variety of project types, managed design consultants and construction management teams, provided major capital and project financial controls, and directed corporate construction purchasing and procurement programs. As a former college level instructor, Steve has also provided extensive mentoring, coaching and individually customized development plans for each of his direct reports.
