Do you remember the last time you updated your resume and wished you could include what you're really proud of but shouldn't do it if you actually want a job? Well, I'm going to take this opportunity to list some of my personal accomplishments.
A couple of weeks ago I judged in a homebrewed beer competition on Long Island. I only need one more point to qualify as a National Beer Judge in the BJCP. You can visit them here: www.bjcp.org . My son Andrew encouraged me to keep on judging since it was really cool and he could brag about me to his friends. How about that!
I've been a proud member of the New York City Homebrewers Guild for over 15 years. You can visit them here: http://hbd.org/nychg/ . Last weekend I finally bottled 20 gallons of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that had been aging for 3 years. The basic batches were a bit past their prime but the malolactic fermentation batches were quite good. Now I know what to do with the 2 batches of Malbec and Carmenere that I have in primary fermentation. Looks like it's time to clean out the wine cellar and make room for more!
Last month I took a Glass Engraving class at Urban Glass. You can visit them here: www.urbanglass.org . I had a great teacher Alison Kinnaird you can visit here: www.alisonkinnaird.com . Some of my pieces are in my photo file. Most of my glass art is hot cast. I've been casting with Jeep Johnson, Richard Polo, and Len Poliandro for 15 years. Lately I've been experimenting with Paleolithic Cave Art. Maybe I could combine hot casting with engraving?
Let's eat! More to follow...
