With more than 25 years of experience in the design industry, Steve leads the Design Development team for Chute Gerdeman. This includes design intent documentation for the environment, custom store fixtures and millwork, coordination with graphic design, lighting design, architectural and engineering consultants and implementation coordination with vendors, fabricators and contractors. It’s Steve’s job to champion the design intent throughout the construction process, working with the client’s operational staff to ensure a project is both brand right and functionally efficient.
Steve’s hands-on, straightforward work style makes him a favorite of both colleagues and clients. He has had the opportunity of working with a diverse client list, including: America Online, Bank One, Blockbuster, Caribou Coffee, C&A Brazil, Charming Shoppes, Hamleys Toys, LensCrafters, Maytag, M&M’S World®, Pacific Theaters, PetSmart, Pick Up Stix, Radio Shack, Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, Sheetz, Shopko, Smithsonian, Timberland, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Warner Brothers and Walt Disney Imagineering.
Prior to joining Chute Gerdeman, Steve was a Director at Fitch and, before that, at Richard Trott and Partners Architects. He began his career in 1984 at Continental Office Environments after earning a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. He also holds accreditation from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification and is a professional member of the Retail Design Institute.
