The Retail Design Institute and DDI are teaming up to bring the latest in retail trends to select Retail Design Institute chapters across the country. As part of the series, called DDI On Tour and sponsored by Pratt, DDI Executive Editor Alison Embrey Medina will be traveling to local institute chapters, presenting a visual tour of some of the standout store designs, windows and merchandising trends that are changing the design approach and breathing new life into retail. Dont miss this insightful look into the design trends driving the retail industry.

Atlanta RDI Design Team created a new look for the NRF January Show. The Mille Zell designers, lead by Keith Curtis RDI, John Wilkins and Harriet Fernandez, created a bold new look and strategy for this years Innovate Show.
International Store of the Year Competition Winner

Keith Curtis, VP Design Director for Miller Zell Inc. accepted the top award in Retail Design Institutes International Store of the Year Competition for Souk du Soleil, an entertainment concept.
National Infantry Museum Gift Shop

Ermcar, Inc. designed and implemented the National Infantry Museum gift shop outside of Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. Two professional members from the Atlanta chapter, John Ermlich from Ermcar and Gary Jones from Malone Design/Fabrication, developed the gift shop design. The design features two widescreen looped monitors with sound, a bookstore, a kids corner with cutout military murals on the wall, and two sound dome stations for selling media.

And the Winner is...On January 11th at the Renzo Piano designed Times Center, 200 of the retail industry's top retailers and designer gathered to celebrate the best of 2009's store designs. Emceed by Andrew McQuilkin, FRDI the event showcase store designs and design firms from around the world. In all, thirty seven awards were handed out before an energized audience.

IIDA presented a condensed regional version of the national trade show, NeoCon, on Friday, October 2nd at the Chase Park Plaza. Over 50 vendors exhibited their latest industry trends. The St. Louis Chapter of Retail Design Institute was excited to take part of this event. Chapter members, including Amy Bien, Jo Jasper Dean, Don Depke, Beth Florsek, Jessie Gallagher, Leah Gregory and Janet Scheve volunteered to work at the Institute's booth and interact with educators, students and professionals of the design community.
International Student Store Design Competition Released -

The Retail Design Institute releases the 2010 International Student Design Competition. C'Store Inc. is looking for a design partner in developing their new convenience store with gas station "Downtown" prototype. All students enrolled in a four year design and architectural program are eligible to enter. The top three winning individual entries receive prize monies and be published. The top placing group will also recognized.
