Tiffany & Co.'s The Landmark has been named the Retail Design Institute's 2023 Store of the Year!
As part of an ambitious vision to redefine luxury retail on Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co., in collaboration with Peter Marino Architect and Arcadis, undertook a comprehensive transformation of their iconic flagship store. This nearly century-old, seven-story building has been completely reimagined to create an unprecedented luxury shopping experience while honoring the brand's historic presence in New York City.
"The Landmark represents a pivotal moment in retail architecture where heritage meets innovation. This isn't just a store renovation – it's a complete reimagining of what luxury retail can be in the 21st century," International President, Cynthia Ortiz, RDI remarked.
The transformation included the innovative removal of four floors of office space to create three new glass-encased floors, offering breathtaking views of Central Park and housing double-story exhibition spaces and exclusive selling suites.

The ground floor welcomes visitors with state-of-the-art digital experiences, featuring double-height video screen walls elegantly framed within metal and glass arched windows. The space seamlessly blends historical architecture with contemporary luxury, creating an immersive brand experience from the moment guests enter.
Central to the design is a magnificent grand staircase that serves as both an architectural showpiece and a functional connection between the main retail floors. The renovation also introduced advanced Vertical Lift Modules (VLM) for efficient merchandise storage and retrieval, ensuring a smooth and elevated shopping experience.
Throughout the building, more than 40 custom artworks and complex custom light fixtures create an atmosphere of unparalleled sophistication. The renowned Tiffany Blue Box Café continues to serve as a beloved destination, while new exterior terraces offer visitors stunning views of Central Park.
"An impressive exercise in materializing a brand's DNA within a space," noted volunteer judge Miguel Canovas, RDI during the review process. "Every aspect is infused with the brand, designed by and for the brand."
