
Code of Conduct for Members
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members, chapter leaders, and board members. This Code of Conduct outlines expected behavior, promotes ethical standards, and helps ensure the integrity and success of the organization. All members are expected to comply with all aspects of this Code of Conduct. Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in membership revocation and removal from the organization. Further, members are expected to report any behaviors that are inconsistent with this Code of Conduct.

1. Respectful and Inclusive Behavior

Respect: Members shall treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness, recognizing and valuing everyone’s unique background, perspective, and contribution.

Inclusivity: Members are expected to foster inclusivity, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected in discussions and decision-making.

Non-Discrimination and Non-Harassment: Discrimination, including harassment, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected status is strictly prohibited. Members must comply with the Sexual Harassment Policy attached as an addendum to this Code of Conduct.

Safe Environment: Harassment, bullying, or any form of intimidating behavior is not tolerated.
2. Integrity and Accountability

Honesty and Transparency: Members must act honestly and openly in their communications and interactions, providing information transparently and truthfully.

Confidentiality: Members must respect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information about the organization, its members, and its affiliates.

Responsibility: Members must take responsibility for their actions and decisions, including admitting mistakes and taking corrective actions as necessary.

Conflict of Interest: Members must disclose any real or perceived conflicts of interest that may interfere with their ability to act in the best interest of the organization.

3. Professionalism and Collaboration

Professional Conduct: Members are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism in all organizational activities, always representing the organization positively.

Constructive Collaboration: Members should actively contribute to a positive, collaborative environment, providing constructive feedback and supporting others’ contributions.

Leadership Support: Chapter leaders and board members should guide, mentor, and encourage members, fostering a culture of growth, learning, and mutual respect.

Compliance with Local Laws: Members must comply with all applicable local, state, and national laws and regulations in their respective chapters.
4. Participation and Engagement

Active Engagement: Members are encouraged to participate actively in meetings, events, and other organizational activities, promoting the organization’s mission and goals.

Feedback and Improvement: Members are encouraged to provide constructive feedback and share ideas for improvement, helping the organization evolve and thrive.

Advocacy: Members should act as advocates for the organization, promoting its values and mission, while being mindful not to speak on behalf of the organization without appropriate authority.
5. Use of Resources

Responsible Use of Resources: Members must use organizational resources, including funds, assets, and information, responsibly, solely for advancing the organization’s mission and activities.

Transparency in Financial Matters: Chapter leaders and board members must ensure transparency in financial reporting and accountability in all financial dealings.
6. Reporting Violations and Enforcement

Reporting Misconduct: Members are encouraged to report any violations of this Code of Conduct to designated organizational authorities, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.

Investigations and Consequences: Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination of membership. Investigations will be conducted fairly, impartially, and confidentially.

Appeal Process: Members subject to disciplinary action may have the right to appeal decisions in accordance with the organization’s established processes.

By participating in the organization, members agree to uphold the principles outlined in this Code of Conduct, contributing to a respectful, ethical, and professional community that promotes the organization’s mission and values.
