The Pacific Northwest Chapter of RDI welcomed students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals to the 6th Annual Emerging Designers Mentoring Event on May 2nd, hosted at IA | Interior Architects in Seattle. Designed to foster growth, mentorship, and industry connection, the event brought together a dynamic mix of emerging designers and seasoned professionals for an evening of meaningful engagement.
The evening kicked off with an inspiring keynote by Tobi Wray, Founder of Design Well Spent, who shared valuable perspectives on leadership, self-advocacy, and navigating the evolving design industry. Her words set the tone for a night focused on empowerment, learning, and support.
Attendees then had the opportunity to participate in portfolio reviews, resume critiques, and informal mentoring sessions, gaining practical advice and insights tailored to their individual career paths. Conversations ranged from refining personal brands to navigating the job search with confidence, all within a supportive and encouraging environment.
This annual gathering remains a cornerstone of our chapter’s mission to invest in the future of design. Whether new to the field or offering guidance, everyone played a role in creating a space rooted in connection, curiosity, and professional growth.
A huge thank you to all the Mentors who generously shared their time and expertise, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the energy in the room. We are especially grateful to our sponsors: Wilsonart, Interior Architects, and Visplay. Their support was instrumental in making this event possible and continuing to champion the Emerging Designers initiative.
We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to uplift the next generation of design leaders.
