Tempur-Pedic, New York City | 50th International Design Competition Store of the Year

CallisonRTKL and the Tempur-Pedic team channeled multi-sensory experiences for a new 3,100-sq.-ft. store in New York City.


The interior is visible from the exterior. The location takes advantage of its storefront using nature photography much like a window to a landscape beyond.

Inside, visitors are greeted at the Engage Zone, the first of a series of zones designed to assist their product discovery and to spark casual conversations leading to deeper discovery.


A pillow wall invites customers to try and to find their favorite feel. Once a pillow has been selected, the store’s product experts can suggest testing the pillow on a bed in the Experience Zone.


Within the Experience Zone, the team designed immersive bed “pods” that suggest stepping into a warm cabin with windows.


Revolving scenes of nature beyond each “window” inspire the refreshing and transformative power of sleep.
