On Saturday evening March 12, 2016, the Retail Design Institute presented the winners of its 45th Annual International Store Design Competition at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas. Gala Sponsors included Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, EY, Stylmark, Highland Associates and Architectural Systems Inc.
More than 125 projects from around the world competed in 21 categories reflecting both hard lines and soft lines in formats ranging from department, specialty, supermarket and mass merchant to pop-‐up and common area. The Institute's New York Chapter handled the judging of this year's competition headed by 2015 New York Board Member and Competition Chair, Diana Bernal, Richemont. Judges included: Sarah Avvedimento, Interior Design Technical Specialist, North America, Bulgari, New York City; Pricillya Bloess, Director of Store Planning, Americas, Bottega Veneta, New York City; John Box Bricker, principal and creative director, Gensler, New York City; Buck Campbell, RDI, BlueHat Creative, Minneapolis and President, Minneapolis | St. Paul Chapter; Tammy Ching, Director of Store Planning and Development, Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City; Steven Derwoed, Senior Vice President, Store Design & Merchandising, Macy’s, New York City; Jhipo Hong, RDI, Creative Director, dash design, Long Island City, N.Y.; Charles A. Matz III, President, CHARLESMATZ, New York City; Andrew McQuilkin, FRDI, Retail Market Leader, BHDP Architecture, Cincinnati and International Chairman, Retail Design Institute.
