Institute Election Schedule for 2024-2026 Term

Members of the Atlanta | Southeast, Chicago | Great Lakes, New York, Northern California, Ohio, Pacific Northwest, and Southwest + Pacific Chapters, please watch your email inbox for a chance to nominate a fellow member or perhaps yourself to serve as Chapter President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer for the 2024-2026 Term.


This election cycle also includes the election of new International Officers. All current members in good standing across the Institute will have the opportunity to nominate fellow members or themselves for a role on the International Board.

Reminder, only Professional members can serve as President or Vice President. Any member can serve as Secretary or Treasurer. All nominations and balloting will be held via email in accordance with the Institute's By-laws.


 

Election Schedule for 2024-2026 Term

July 23 - Call for Nominations, Due August 23


August 26 - Request to Accept Nominations, Due September 6


September 11 - Ballots Distributed. Voting begins.


October 15 - October 25 - Results reviewed and confirmed.


October 29 - New officers announced.


November 1 - Term begins.


 

Responsibilities & Duties of Chapter Officers

Following is an overview of the responsibilities/duties of each Chapter officer:


The President

  • The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer and the public representative of the Chapter and shall have the general powers and responsibilities.


  • The President shall be an ex-officio member of all standing committees and shall appoint committees to execute the Board of Directors' decisions.


  • The President shall preside at all meetings of the Officers of the Chapter and at all meetings of the (International) Board of Directors.


The Vice President

  • The Vice President shall in the absence or disability of the President perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President.


  • The Vice President shall relieve the President of all administrative details which otherwise interfere with the President's duties and shall see that the responsibilities assigned by the President are put into effect.


  • The Vice President shall receive copies of all committee reports; shall notify the President of any action taken by committees and shall summarize all committee reports and distribute copies to all of the Chapter's Officers.

The Secretary

  • The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the Officers and the Board and shall record the minutes of all proceedings and the votes on all motions.


  • The Secretary shall perform such other duties as assigned by the Board or by the President under whose supervision they shall be.

The Treasurer

  • The Treasurer shall have the custody of Chapter funds and securities and shall keep full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements via approved digital accounting tools the final file versions of which reside on servers belonging to the Institute and shall deposit all moneys and other valuable effects in the name and to the credit of the Institute in such depositories as may be designated by the Board.


  • The Treasurer shall have the power to disperse such funds of the Institute as may be ordered by the Board and shall render to the President and Directors at the regular meeting of the Board or whenever they may require it, an account of all their transactions as Treasurer and of the financial condition of the Chapter.


  • The Treasurer shall at the end of each fiscal year prepare an annual statement of the financial status to the International Office.
